Brian O’Donnell discovered his passion one day as he was buying a Father’s Day gift for his dad. As he watched a hand engraver meticulously cut the requested design into a pewter mug, Brian became captivated by the simplicity and beauty of the craft. He knew he had to learn how to master the craft and so he enrolled in the Bowman Technical School in Lancaster, PA from which he graduated in 1976. On April 30, 1979 Brian and his wife Jeanne started B.T. O’Donnell Goldsmith & Jeweler and began his commitment to focus on quality jewelry repair and hand engraving. Over the years, they have been fortunate enough to grow their business to include a retail store that supplies high quality diamonds and colored gemstones as well as a wide range of quality finished goods. Even though their business has grown their focus continues to be on quality and customer satisfaction
Today, Brian and Jeanne’s Son, Andrew, works as a Designer, Bench Jeweler, and Engraver in the workshop upstairs where he used to play as a child. After High School he received a BA in Business Administration from Temple University. He attended the New Approach School where he became a Graduate Bench Jeweler. He has also taken numerous classes on stone setting and jewelry, knife, and gun engraving. He considers himself fortunate to be a student of both the old world and the new, having learned many old world methods and techniques from his father, while experiencing new tools and machinery in school. Andrew often agrees with his Dad when he says, “the old way is the right way”. Committed to the craft, Andrew endeavors to continue to provide the same level of quality his Dad’s customers have come to expect when they walk through the front door. He is married and has a beautiful daughter he loves more than anything. He loves working with new people to make something special and meaningful to them or a loved one. He also enjoys hiking, basketball, and landscape photography.
